How long has Camp eden been around?
We don't have a record of when Camp Eden was first founded. The earliest picture we have seems to be from around 1910, which would make the campsite over 100 years old! It began its life as Institute Park, a place for teachers and students of the Denver Bible Institute (now Colorado Christian University) to relax and refresh in the summer.
When did it become Camp Eden?
In 1944, Dr. Sam Bradford, the pastor of Beth Eden Baptist Church, became the President of Denver Bible Institute. The Institute was in some financial trouble and was looking to sell their property, Institute Park, in Coal Creek Canyon. Dr. Bradford, seeing an opportunity for his church to reach young people in the Denver area, purchased the property personally and donated it the church. The church then decided to change the name from Institute Park to Camp Eden.
What's the wildlife like at camp?
Being the mountains, Camp Eden gets a lot of animal visitors. The most common are hummingbirds and chipmunks. But we have been known to see deer, bobcats, moose, bear, and foxes. No one has ever been attacked by an animal at Camp Eden, and while we love the beauty of God's Creation, we encourage our campers to never approach the wildlife at camp.
How big is Camp Eden?
If you're asking about land size, we own just over 160 acres of land. The buildings and other usable areas cover about 100 acres or so. We back up against the Roosevelt National Forest, though, which makes our backyard something like 800,000 acres. Talk about elbow room...
On the other hand, if you're asking about buildings, Camp Eden has 8 major buildings that can accommodate up to 100 guests at a time. Check our Facilities page to learn more about the campsite.

What's the weather like?
At 8800 ft elevation, the temperature is generally about 10-15° cooler than in the Denver area. It's not unusual for summer nights to be in low 50s. Generally, though our weather is pretty mild.
Snow totals vary from year to year, and we can have anywhere from 20 feet in a season to just a couple feet.
The big thing to watch out for is the wind. The nearby village of Wondervu regularly records wind speeds in excess of 70 mph, and Boulder and Golden are regularly considered among some of the windiest cities in the United States. Hang on to your hats!

So what do you guys believe?
Since Camp Eden is a ministry of Beth Eden Baptist Church we usually just point people that way (read the Doctrinal Statement here). But here's a short summary of what we believe, if you'd rather not click through:
We believe the Bible alone, both the Old and the New Testaments, is the verbally inspired Word of God, and that it is the sole final authority in faith and practice.
We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His shed blood for atonement, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate, His imminent, personal return to rapture His church before the seven years of Great Tribulation, followed by His premillennial return to establish His kingdom on earth.
We believe that Satan is a created being, the author of sin, the tempter in the fall, the declared enemy of God and man, and the god of this age. He shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire.
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and without salvation are hopelessly lost.
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to men by grace and received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of sins. Salvation is solely through faith in the blood of Christ apart from human merit. All those who repent and believe are regenerated sons of God and are kept eternally secure in Christ.
